About Us

Socrise is a nonprofit organization, dedicated to helping society improve its financial and economic literacy and understand how to earn, spend, and manage money. Our interest in benefitting humanity includes improving literacy levels which inches us closer to solving the gap in financial literacy in underserved communities.

OUR MISSION

To equip and enable blue-collared workers to make smart financial decisions: individuals can process economic information and make informed decisions about financial planning, savings, debt, and pensions.

OUR VISION

Improving welfare! Based on our research, the conventional microeconomic approach to saving and consumption decisions provide evidence that an entirely rational and well-informed individual will consume less than his income permits, thus encouraging them to stay committed to saving to weather any rough patches.

My aim is to empower low-income individuals to be more knowledgeable about the basics of personal finance and confident in their money management skills. This initiative is to enable them to get into strategic thinking about their personal finances and understand the Economy and its economic requirements.

I Love comics; AND, I love Economics. While reading comics may be frowned upon, I have learned that given the right graphic artist (my younger brother) and
the subject matter, comics could indeed be a useful tool for making complex concepts not only enjoyable but also easier to understand.

Its fun, visual appeal would be ideal for….(add to it)

This is how I created eCOnoMICS – Economics through comics.

I believe Learning the fundamentals of economic concepts and a savings calculator enhance low-income individuals’ financial literacy. Will it be a silver
bullet to empower their overall well-being? Well, I hope so. This is my humble attempt at a minuscule overhaul of social support for the less privileged in Dubai and beyond.

Well…I love comics! Who at my age doesn’t love them? But Economics?!

I was 15 when my brother, Varun, introduced me to the idea of eCOnoMICS; I didn’t immediately jump at it. Why would anybody want to study economics in a comic format?! But, when he made me the offer to create the storyboard and design the graphics for this pet project is when I was enthralled. Along the way, working during our off-school schedules, we poured over our artifact, gradually bringing it to life.

My role in making the comic inspired me to co-found Socrise, our nonprofit organization. Together, we hope Socrise will empower the demographic we intended it for with a promise to continue striving to keep that process alive forever.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at my role in creating eCOnoMICs:

My penchant for storyboarding and digital graphics was born from my love for doodling and tinkering with tech. After consuming endless hours on our labor of love – the economics comic, I must admit that I love storyboarding and can’t emphasize its importance enough.

As a comic book creator, I developed the storyboard to illustrate a cohesive storyline that mimicked a TV series: episodes and seasons. I demonstrated how our fun and instructional economics comic would unfold with digital graphics. This was essential to eliminate any potential plot holes. Taking my brother’s kernel of an idea and digitally bringing it to life with vibrant graphics was incredibly soul-satisfying.
